Continued Revitalization of Downtown Syracuse

Salt City Flats Celebrates Official Ribbon-Cutting in Downtown Syracuse

The Hayner Hoyt Corporation was proud to join project partners, local officials, and community leaders for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at Salt City Flats, celebrating the completion of a major redevelopment project in the heart of downtown Syracuse.

Located at 420 and 430 E. Genesee Street, Salt City Flats has transformed two longstanding downtown buildings into a modern residential community. The ribbon-cutting marked an exciting milestone for everyone involved and another step forward in the continued revitalization of downtown Syracuse.

Celebrating a Shared Vision for Downtown Syracuse

The ceremony brought together representatives from the development, property management, construction, and local government teams who helped make Salt City Flats a reality.

Speakers included:

  • Marybeth Riscica, Senior Regional Manager for United Group of Companies
  • Ryan McMahon, Onondaga County Executive
  • Norman Jemal, Senior Managing Principal for Douglas Development
  • Eric Ennis, Chief Development Officer for the City of Syracuse
  • Jeremy Thurston, President of The Hayner Hoyt Corporation

The occasion provided an opportunity to recognize the collaboration behind the redevelopment and celebrate the investment being made in Syracuse’s downtown housing market.

For our team at Hayner Hoyt, the ceremony was especially meaningful. After months of construction, coordination, and hands-on craftsmanship, it was rewarding to celebrate the finished project alongside the partners who helped bring it to life.

Building on Downtown Syracuse’s Momentum

Salt City Flats is part of a broader effort to bring new life to existing buildings throughout downtown Syracuse. By repurposing two properties with longstanding ties to the community, the development preserves an important piece of the city’s built environment while creating new opportunities for downtown living.

As construction manager, Hayner Hoyt oversaw the transformation of the properties, working alongside Douglas Development, project architect Macknight Architects and Planners, LLP, and our trade partners to deliver the completed residential community.

The project reflects the value of adaptive reuse and the role that thoughtful redevelopment can play in strengthening established neighborhoods. With new residents, renewed spaces, and continued investment, projects like Salt City Flats help support a more active and connected downtown.
