Turning Stone Resort Casino Evolution

Verona, NY

Client: Turning Stone Enterprises

Architect: Gensler

Date Completed: August 2026

The Turning Stone Evolution Project is a major expansion of Turning Stone Resort Casino delivered by The Hayner Hoyt Corporation and TN Ward Company Builders through the THHC/TNW joint venture as Construction Manager at Risk. The project brought together three major structures on one campus: The Crescent Hotel and SALT Seafood & Raw Bar, the Grand Expo, and the Parking Center. Together, these additions significantly expanded Turning Stone’s hospitality, dining, meeting, convention, and parking capabilities while construction continued within an active resort environment.

The 258-room Crescent Hotel adds new guest accommodations to the resort and includes SALT Seafood & Raw Bar, a new fine dining destination. The Grand Expo added 165,000 square feet of event space, bringing Turning Stone’s total meeting and convention space to approximately 225,000 square feet and making it New York’s largest meeting and convention space. The project also included the Parking Center, providing the infrastructure needed to support the resort’s expanded facilities and increased capacity. Delivering these three structures as one coordinated development required extensive collaboration among the owner, design teams, THHC/TNW, subcontractors, and a workforce that reached approximately 450 workers on site at peak construction.

The original schedule called for turnover in October 2026, but THHC/TNW completed the entire project in August 2026, with The Crescent Hotel and SALT opening even earlier in July 2026. The project was delivered $22 million below the GMP, with the savings shared back to the owner. Achieving these results required continuous coordination, extensive value engineering, innovative construction techniques, careful management of procurement and logistics, and a safety program designed for a large, multi-state workforce. The project also generated a one-time economic impact exceeding $600 million, created more than 3,500 construction and related jobs, and awarded contracts to more than 60 local New York businesses.

The Evolution Project represents more than the construction of three new structures. It expanded Turning Stone’s ability to accommodate guests, large-scale events, and conventions while creating lasting economic opportunities for the region. For THHC/TNW, the project also reflects more than 35 years of partnership between The Hayner Hoyt Corporation and Turning Stone Enterprises and the ability to bring that established relationship, combined with the resources of two construction firms, to one of the most complex projects in the region.
