Throwback: Slocum Hall at Syracuse University

We’ve built up quite a portfolio of work at Syracuse University over the years. Today let’s throw it back to this time around 13 years ago when we were just getting started with the historic renovation of Slocum Hall, home of the School of Architecture.

At the center of this unique renovation a “floating” lecture hall was installed. It is encased in bamboo veneer perforated paneling and rides on structural steel pylons spanning two floor levels. In an effort to restore some of the building’s original qualities, the atrium of the building, which had been previously sealed off, was re-opened and sections of the bearing walls were removed to create pathways for ventilation and the existing skylight. Extensive renovations were also made to classrooms and faculty offices, and a new HVAC system was constructed inside the building as well.

Take a look at some of our recent higher education industry work.
