The Hayner Hoyt Corporation and OSHA host a “Safety Stand-Down” at the City Center Construction project
The Hayner Hoyt Corporation partnered with the regional office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to hold a “Safety Stand-Down” at the City Center Construction project at 400 South Salina St. on Friday, May 6th.
Working in conjunction with OSHA, Guardian Fall Protection, and Colony Hardware, the company presented information designed to reduce deaths and injuries from falls in the construction industry. The presentation featured fall protection experts, live demonstrations of simulated falls, and fall protection equipment in action.
The main goal of the Stand-Down was to provide safety training and awareness to reduce slips, trips, and falls on construction sites. Falls are consistently the leading cause of death and injury for construction workers. Typically over a third of all injuries are fall related. Education and increased recognition of fall hazards will lower the casualty rate throughout the industry.
This event was part of OSHA’s initiative “National Fall Safety Stand-Down” week happening May 2-6, 2022. Approximately 60 construction workers currently working on the project participated in the Stand Down.
