Hayner Hoyt President Jeremy Thurston Named “Top 20 Under 40” in Construction
Centerstate CEO
Jeremy Thurston, president of The Hayner Hoyt Corp., has been honored as one of the top 20 rising stars under 40 years of age in the tri-state construction industry by trade magazine ENR New York.
Thurston, 35, took over as president in 2008 and was recognized by the magazine in part for his leadership throughout the recession. The company entered new markets, including health care, helping Hayner Hoyt revenues remain relatively steady between 2008 and 2011 before growing by roughly 99 percent during 2012.
Thurston was hired by Hayner Hoyt as a laborer in 1998, and has held positions including assistant project manager, project manager and field operations manager. He is a former board member of the Associated General Contractors of New York State, a 2008 graduate and director of Leadership Greater Syracuse, and a member of the Young Leaders support group for the local Salvation Army Board. He earned his bachelor’s degree in construction management from Utica College.
To qualify for the ENR New York list, applicants must hail from New York, New Jersey or Connecticut and be under the age of 40 as of Jan. 1, 2013. Based on job responsibilities, education and community service activities, a panel of five judges chose the 20 winners from a field of more than 80 nominees from across the architecture, engineering and construction industries.
