A formal groundbreaking was held Tuesday for the OMNI Surgical Center at the former Grossman’s site on French Road.

The surgical center, which is operated by Dr. Nameer Haider, will be constructed by Hayner Hoyt Construction Company out of Syracuse and consists of a $6 million private investment that will create 20 new jobs. It is expected to open by October.

The surgical center performs outpatient, minimally invasive procedures to address pain management for its patients.

Haider currently treats patients at his practice at 1508 Genesee St., a building he renovated two years ago. That office will remain open, and Haider will continue to treat patients there.

“The OMNI Surgery Center will be the preeminent surgical facility providing cutting edge treatments in a modern environment of comfort and convenience, using advanced technologies in surgery, imaging, and electronic medical records,” Haider said in a news release. “Our vision is to bring world class medical care to the residents of Central New York.”
